Beating the Holiday Season

December is coming to an end and I wanted to share with you how I did. I gained 3 lbs. and lost one along the way somewhere between shortbread cookies and vacation. So I ended it with gaining 2 lbs. I usually gain 10 lbs. Sure I wanted to lose this month, but I'd be kidding myself. I was just trying to keep swimming and stay afloat among all the parties, potlucks, dinners out, cookie swap, hot coco and all the jolly good eats. This season was different for me. If I did eat something high calorie and saturated fat I would eat it slowly and enjoy it because I was eating one or two and not ten servings. Now that it's almost over, I feel proud how I did. I did not work out as much, but I was sure to drink enough water every day. I still had my healthy snacks and was sure not to show up animal hungry anywhere.

This was my first time to be healthier during the holiday season. Wow! There's food every where. I had to be stronger than the food. I prayed for control over food except that one incident I ate three hot Krispy Kremes. Eek! I'm glad I did it because they had been swarming my head for like three months. HAHA!

Looking back how much I turned down or that I did not have as much as I wanted... you know I'm still here alive and happy. I can go on without that food and I am okay with that decision. Who knew? I did not know I had the strength, now I do.

We had a four day vacation and worked out twice in my room. I use to laugh at the people who worked out even while on vacation. Well, please forgive me. I will no longer laugh at you. I admire you. I worked out and felt satisfied with myself. I was there in front of the lodge window working out to the Denise Austin video that played in my head. No music, no shoes, no workout clothes. Just me and determination.

Determination and will power, I am discovering I have tons of it. I use to be envious of the women who had the will power to be healthy and I am discovering that I have it too if I choose to use it.

A decision to use it takes courage. Boom!
