I have been a Frugalista since 2009. I have always been a smart shopper, but I took it to the next level in 2009. The therapy for Monkey was expensive so I had to find a way to save more on our expenses. I started to save on every day things like coffee, body wash, menu planning and even making my own laundry soap. I took a coupon class and I loved every thing I learned. I was so excited after the class, I passed by Walgreens with my new coupons to get the hottest deals. Once I learned how to look for deals such as pay a quarter for toothpaste and a dollar for body wash, there's just no other way to shop. Paying $3.50 or more for body wash makes me cringe.
Sometimes I use coupons, but more often I price match, menu plan and use my stockpile. I menu plan according to the sales ad and use my coupons to get better deals on beauty products. This is the only way to shop for me. Sure I have days where I plan the list in my car in front of the store. As long as I got my ads, and stockpile list I can do it.
I also love to shop at Aldi. I save at least 40% on groceries there. I absolutely love their new all natural food line too! Aldi is always on my list of stops.
My least fave thing about couponing is cutting out the coupons so I do it in the school pick up line with the jams on blast. I'm not a crazy coupon lady, I'm of the fab kind. You know the kind that saves on meals, beauty products and even shopping! Many times I don't even use them. I need to just cut the coupons that I know I will need soon. I also love the huge savings by making my own laundry soap, stain remover, hand soap, body wash and even some home cleaners.
I will be a Frugalista for the rest of my life. I love that this is one of the ways I give back to my family is by shopping with price matching, menu planning and cooking ahead! How do you save on your shopping?
Cooking ahead is a whole other post. It saves me in this rat race called life. Oh, and you know what else. I've been better about freezing my leftovers and I have built up a nice pile of meals. That really helps. I think that's another post too. HAHA!
Frugal is the fab way to be.
That is me. 24/7
