The weekend is over and I am reflecting on how many calories I saved. Last weekend I hogged and I gained two pounds which I lost during the week. That was so disappointing because I did not lose any new weight. So I wanted to be ready and armed for this weekend.
I do indulge on a cheat meal once a week. It's always on Saturday, this week it happened on Friday at Cheddar's. Sigh. So good.
On Saturday, I cooked Arkansas bacon for my Monkey and I passed it up. Instead I had a banana smoothie. I saved 300 calories.
This day I volunteered at a local event. I knew there was going to be a concession stand so to avoid the funnel cake and corn dogs I did something a determined person would do. I packed my water, snack and lunch. Woohoo! I had a Kellogg's Chocolate Pretzel bar, turkey sandwich and pineapple and grapes. Yes, I packed a toothpick too. I really wanted a corn dog and funnel cake. I saved 900 calories. Wow.
So for dinner I lost my determination and fell into some Jalapeño chicken, mac & cheese and mash and gravy. Once it was in front of me, I felt guilty. I did not eat that mound of spicy crispiness. I saved 500 calories. I did eat all the mash and mac & cheese. I was strong until I saw the Jalapeño chicken. Looking to the side and sad.
Sunday we went to a Chili Cook Off at our church. My Boss entered a Chili Verde in the non-traditional category and won! Woohoo! I had a bowl of his, a piece of cornbread and I tasted the other two entries from our small group. I went back for a piece of another cornbread and brownie. I ate one bite of cornbread and brownie and I thought it was just not worth it and quickly threw it away. I think I did well. Since I passed the second piece of cornbread, brownie and did not have another bowl of chili I saved 1,000 calories.
This weekend I saved 2,700 calories. Wowee. I did that? Yes I did. I do not feel deprived. I am happy I passed on these calories and I will not be disappointed in myself. There's leftover Jalepeno chicken in my fridge and I am not eating it.
